Reel sizing is something that needs to be considered carefully. This is especially true if you are using a tackle box that has a large number of different sizes. To properly find out how big of a reel you need to purchase you should add together the diameter of the end of the line. That you are fishing with and the diameter of the end of the rod that you are using.

Basic fishing line setup is also something that you should have a firm grasp on before you start casting your line. One of the easiest ways to get lost when fishing is to have your line wrapped around something that is not working correctly. The best way to know if you have the hook snapped back into place is to look down at the line and see if the hook and eye look the same length.

Keep The Line On Piece Of Rag

When you are learning the basics of basic fishing line setup. It is best to keep the line on a piece of rag or cloth that is not too bulky. This will make the task of pulling the line through the water much easier. In most cases, it is best to place a small amount of line on the reel. Then move on to the next step.

Most fishing stores will have a simple system for connecting the lines together. The hook will usually be secured onto the piece of cloth that you will use to wrap the line around. Once the cloth is completely wrapped around the line. There should be a bolt or hook that is clipped onto the cloth at the end of the line.

Once you have attached the line to the bolt, you should remove the clamp that holds the cloth in place. This will allow you to move the line around and turn the crank handle with ease. The clamp will often have two nuts and washers that need to be removed in order to move the line around.

The hook is what the line pulls on when you are casting the fish. It will need to be mounted onto the bolt as well. Thus, there are usually a nut and washer on the hook that needs to be loosened. Once this is done, the bolt and hook can be inserted into the clamp, and it will secure the line.

Attach Line To The Reel

Now that the bolt and hook are in place, it is time to attach the line to the reel. Using the cloth, twist the line in the direction of the reel. Then tie the knot or connect the knots so that it is not so tight. Once the end of the line is cut to the proper length. The reel should have a similar type of loop that it hooks onto.
